Love Is Our Motivation: Living From the Heart of Christ

ree

The Center of Everything We Do

What drives your actions? Is it success, fear, obligation, or approval? The Bible teaches us that for followers of Jesus, the answer must always be love. Jesus Himself said the greatest commandment is to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… and the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37–39).

At The Path Church, we believe love is our motivation. It is the reason we serve, forgive, give, and persevere. Without love, everything else falls short.

Why Love Matters Most

Paul writes with clarity in 1 Corinthians 13:1–3: “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal… If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”

Our talents, sacrifices, and ministries mean nothing if they aren’t fueled by love. Love transforms empty duty into joyful service. Love takes us beyond performance and into genuine relationship with God and people.

Fueled by Christ’s Love

We don’t create love on our own. “We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Jesus’ love is the source of ours. His sacrifice on the cross shows us what love really looks like—selfless, sacrificial, unconditional.

Jesus told His disciples, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35). Our love is not only a motivation—it is our witness to the world.

Love in Action

Love is more than a feeling. It shows up in the way we treat others, the patience we extend, and the sacrifices we make. Paul instructs, “Serve one another humbly in love” (Galatians 5:13). He also says, “Over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity” (Colossians 3:14).

When love motivates us, service becomes a joy, forgiveness becomes possible, and unity becomes real. Love makes the church a family, not just a gathering.

Choosing Love Daily

Love isn’t always easy. It requires humility, perseverance, and grace. But when love is our motivation, even the hardest challenges become opportunities to reflect Christ. The invitation today is simple: let love drive everything you do.
