Bible Verses About Christmas

North star shining over clear evening sky

Christmas is more than a season of celebration—it’s a reminder of God’s nearness. In the birth of Jesus, we see God stepping into our world with humility, love, and purpose. These Bible verses help us slow down, reflect, and center our hearts on the true meaning of Christmas: God with us.

1. The Promise of a Savior

Isaiah 9:6 - “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders.”

Isaiah 7:14 - “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call Him Immanuel.”

Micah 5:2 - “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah… out of you will come for Me one who will be ruler over Israel.”

Christmas reminds us that God keeps His promises—even across generations.

2. The Birth of Jesus

Luke 2:10–11 - “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Luke 2:6–7 - “She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger.”

Matthew 1:21 - “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”

God entered the world quietly, humbly, and intentionally.

3. God With Us

Matthew 1:23 - “They will call Him Immanuel—which means, ‘God with us.’”

John 1:14 - “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.”

Philippians 2:6–7 - “He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant.”

Christmas assures us we are never alone—God chose to be near.

4. Good News for All People

Luke 2:14 - “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.”

Luke 2:17–18 - “They spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child.”

Matthew 2:10–11 - “When they saw the star, they were overjoyed… and worshiped Him.”

The message of Christmas is meant to be shared—joy multiplied through good news.

5. Light in the Darkness

John 8:12 - “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness.”

Isaiah 9:2 - “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light.”

Matthew 4:16 - “On those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

Jesus came as light—especially for those in dark seasons.

6. Peace, Hope, and Love

Romans 15:13 - “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him.”

Galatians 4:4–5 - “When the set time had fully come, God sent His Son.”

1 John 4:9 - “This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world.”

Christmas reveals a God who moves toward us in love.

7. A Response of Worship

Luke 2:19 - “Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”

Psalm 96:11–12 - “Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad.”
